Famous Family Quotes

There were a few moments today, when the words that came out of the mouths of several of my family members were too funny.
It started with my husband Jason after he brought me the shirt we bought him for Father's Day.
Mom- "so, it didn't fit?"
Dad-"no, the sleeves were too short"
Mom-"would a bigger size work?"
Dad- "I don't think so. And can I just comment on the kind of shirts you buy me?"
Mom- "you don't like what I pick out?"
Dad- "I'm not really into plaid."
Now, this exchange probably isn't funny to you and you're probably wondering why I posted it. I really don't know, I just thought it was so sweet the way my husband told me he didn't like my clothing finds. He kind of had a sheepish look on his face too. And later, at dinner, he told me to stop putting cheese on his hamburger. We've been married 10 years people!

The next moment happened during the dinner blessing. Our 4 year old was the #1 prayer, and he thanked God for the food, his Dad and the chickens. I see where I fall in the lineup. Then he quickly asked God to please let him be able to put a leash on his favorite chicken Clucky. I can't wait to see that.

After dinner, we were playing in the floor when the 4 year old asked me, "Why are your legs so fat?" What am I going to do with these guys?

You Know When You Are A Mother of Boys When...

You know you're a mother of boys when...
you can name every piece of heavy equipment and the job that it performs.
you always point out emergency vehicles to everyone in your car, even if they aren't children.
you understand that cowboy boots go with anything.
you visit stores like Tractor Supply just for fun.
you pull over at construction sites, sit in your car and watch the equipment in action.
you understand that masking tape + blocks = hours of fun.
you understand that anything like rocks, sticks, and cardboard boxes are not to be thrown away.
And, you know when you're the mother of boys when you receive a dirty, snot laden kiss and you don't even flinch, but rather smile, give a big hug and pull the child's shirt up to their nose and wipe.
Can I get an AMEN?

Blast From the Past

I thought I would begin a series of posts that included pictures and videos from days gone by. Here is a cute video of John Merritt singing his little heart out. He had just turned 2 and boy did he love to sing! I can't believe he is already a big 4 year old. Everyone told me how fast time will fly when they are little. They were SO right. I love you "Big Boy".

The Boys

Well, here they are. And NO...you can't have them. I know you want them. I know you want to tuck them into your pockets and keep them forever, but you can't. They're mine! Well...er...not really. I mean, I gave birth to them and all, but the Bible says that "Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him." (NIV) So really, they belong to the Creator, my Heavenly Father and Lord. What a gift! What a responsibility! I'm just thankful they came with a manual!
John Merritt is 4. He loves Daddy, trucks, sliced tomatoes and most anything sweet.
Samuel is 15 months. He loves everything brother loves, minus the tomatoes.

"Thank you Jesus for blessing me with these two special gifts. Help me to guide their little hearts towards you." Amen
