Falling Leaves Cookies and Baby Shower Cookies

I thought these cookies were really cute! They were SO easy to do.

These cookies on a stick are for a baby shower on Sunday. Thank you Susan!

Have a great weekend everybody! We're off to a fall festival!

  1. Hi! Saw you at the festival too! I walked right by you at one point, but didn't realize it until we were past...goodness it was crowded! Next year, you should set up a cookie booth, and have pictures of the cakes and stuff you make!

  3. What a fun find on the Wilton forum. I LOVE the fall autumn tree with leaves. How easy is "SO easy"? Is it possible to send instructions? I've only made 2 batches of cookies after taking a class with Deb Hennen of ICES (Int'l Cake Exploration Societe). Deb's sugar cookie recipe is outstanding and doesn't require any refrigeration (which I love).
Deb Hennen's "Really Good Sugar Cookie"
1 cup softened butter or margarine
    1 cup granulated sugar
    1 large egg
    1 tsp vanilla
    1 tsp almond flavoring
    1 tsp baking powder
    3 cups all purpose flour
Preheat oven to 400. In large bowl, cream butter and sugar. Beat in egg, vanilla, and almond. Add flour and baking powder. If dough is sticky add up to 1/2 cup addt'l flour a little at a time. Do not chill dough. Roll out on parchment paper 1/4" thick or cookie sheet and cut into desired shapes. Bake 6-8 minutes.
She recommends rolling out a small portion, then with the cut-off remnants mix in some more fresh dough and roll/cut, repeat. That keeps the dough "fresh" and keeps it from being overworked and tough.

  4. Chris, they ARE really easy. You just make your cookies and ice them in blue. The next night/day you glob on some green on the bottom, and then use brown for your tree. to do the tree, I start by making 3 globs of brown where i want the bunches of leaves to be, then pipe lines down to the middle to make the trunk. Then just use your finger tips to drop Wiltons mini leaves sprinkles. I don't know if they sell these all year, so you might want to pick some up soon. I use a little paint brush to smoosh the leaves down into the icing. Then i place a few on the ground around the tree.
That cookie recipe is like mine, except I don't use baking powder or almond flavoring. Instead I add 1 teaspoon of butter flavor.
Thanks for sharing. Did you enter the contest? Post a comment under the contest post if you want to enter.

  5. Thanks! I had no idea those were candy leaves. I'll have to check out Michaels and see if they have any.
